Kwara Football Academy emerges champions of Seyi Tinubu Cityzens Cup

 

Kwara Football Academy(KFA) has emerged the champions of the maiden edition of Seyi Tinubu Cityzens Cup.

The KFA boys defeated La Planet FC 1-0 in the colourful final match played at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl of George Innih Stadium on Saturday.

Fawas Sakariyau’s goal from the spot in the early minutes of the game was all that the KFA boys needed to win the coveted trophy

The well attended final produced a great display of football artistry with excellent performances from the finalists.

Earlier,FC Zeus defeated Na Royal 1-0 in the third place final to claim the bronze medals.

The tournament, amongst many other objectives, was organised to unite communities, discover talents, and help them showcase their skills.

A total number of 16 teams participated in the tournament, with each stage of the competition begins held across strategic locations in the state.

Speaking at the final match, Aliu Olamilekan Bello, the convener of the tournament, commended all the teams that participated in the tournament for their sportsmanship.

He said, “All the teams gave us their best, and we are very satisfied with their performances. The tournament truly lived up to the expectations, and we believe this will inspire the players to continue to pursue their dreams and also further help sports development in the state. ”

Also speaking at the final, the CEO of Steady Global Investment, Lawal Moyosore Tijani, also expressed his delight for the success of the tournament.

Tijani thanked the Kwara State Government and all the stakeholders for the huge support given to the project.

“I am very happy for the success of this project. We thank the government of the state and all the stakeholders for their huge support – we couldn’t have done this without them, and we believe we have all achieved great things together, ” Lawal stated.

Some of the guests at the final match include the Executive Chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bola Mogaji; Honourable Commissioner for Social Development in Kwara State, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam; Chairman Kwara State Football Association, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa Thuraya and Honourable Ishola Kayode, the Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Digital Innovations and a host of others.

The Kwara Football Academy boys were presented with a giant trophy and a cash prize of One million naira for winning the tournament.
